I suppose you have to be over 50 to remember the TV series, but one will know the music no matter what age? I remember a very short and approachable arrangement of this many years ago from Studio Music (Stan Kitchen/Philip Sparke) which had the basic theme and middle 8 which also smoothed down some technical issues. So I decided to take it on as is/was leaving nothing out inc. the countdown 54321 intro and the TV finale/end. And the one thing that gives you the “ears up” is that timpani intro and I’d like to say I met the man who played the timps on the original Thunderbirds recording, I was introduced to him by my old friend Rodney Newton as we were both on a recording session in the late 80’s and “Janosh” was coming out of Abbey Road 1. I was so wowed to meet this guy who’d recorded the original session, so above this solo is written ‘Alla Janosh”. As to the countdown intro, perhaps a member of the band with a fine American movie voice over style should do the countdown, FIVE! Then the first chord etc, then the Vivace 170 bpm starts on 1.
