The 2nd Thousand years Fanfare:
Every band needs a “Fanfare” of some kind at some stage to either to kick off a concert in grand style or if playing for a function which requires an intro for dignitaries (Mayor EG) or event starting.
This was commissioned to celebrate 1000 years of the City of Liverpool which in turn starts the 2nd thousand years. The event was held in the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral (which boasts a 13 second echo) where also Sir Simon Rattle (a fellow student friend of mine as we were both in the Merseyside Youth Orchestra in the 1970’s) was to receive the keys to the city. Commissioned by Ms. Louise Hough MBE (a former student of mine and brass teacher in Liverpool for 40 years) on behalf of the Liverpool Music Service “Resonate” in 2008 which was also the year where Liverpool was the “Capital of Culture” in the UK. https://youtu.be/cGYrJX0z1Qg
