Description

Mahler 3 (1893/96)Adagietto 10 Piece (alternate parts treble/bass/Eb/F) Brass and Organ: Part of his Wunderhorn cycle and his longest symphony, his passion for nature is foremost in this symphony. For the premier the conductor was none other than Richard Strauss and players needed were hard to find and the orchestra was supplemented from a local barracks and the first horn was found by Richard Strauss himself. Of course this is the symphony with the very long Post horn solo which has been argued over for many years as it cannot be played on a post horn! I chose to arrange this in memory of a dear college friend, flat mate, who became 2nd tpt in the RLPO who died too young and I arranged and conducted this at his funeral. It was also played in the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral to welcome Sir Simon Rattle on receiving the keys to the city in 2008. Also a 10 Piece version + Organ to come soon.https://youtu.be/uu4JBTxWbHQ
