Hector Fiocco, Andante: Thanks to my teacher (Alan Stringer) recording this in the 1970’s in Liverpool Cathedral with Noel Rawsthorn it became a favourite of mine to include in my piccolo concert programmes and I first played with no other than Noel Raswthorn’s pupil who succeeded him at the Anglican Cathedral, Ian Tracey. It started life as an organ work and I’m sure Noel Rawsthorn pointed this wonderful melody line to Alan as the embarked on a piccolo trumpet and organ album.
