A beautiful and flowing incarnation, with moments of repose and thoughtfulness before ending on a single long-crotchet chord to resonate through the concert hall.
Erik Satie’s famous Gymnopedies are known the world over with their iconic impressionist French style. James McFadyen has reworked the 3 Gymnopedies in a very new way. James arranged Gymnopedie No.3 in 2008 and although the least intense of the three arrangements, James has given us the feeling of longing, and the arrangement flows along with a general feeling of “something’s about to come”. Several moments of repose with a certain “simplice” quality before escalating to the final section. Let that last note resonate in the concert hall.
