Description

Haydn 104 The London. Haydn not often arr: for BB, but this was the first symphony I played as a young’un (13) in Liverpool School’s Orchestra, and no mean feat as it’s Trumpet in D. I took a real shine to the last moment and still love it today, so down a semitone and off we go, have supplied a picc Bb part as the sop part is a bit lofty, aimed at 1st sec/Championship. First performed in 1795 May 4th at the Kings Theatre and was an immediate success and brought Haydn 4,000 gulden. This rambunctious finale is in sonata form fast folk music starting with a drone and this theme has been often attributed to Croatian folk music.https://youtu.be/YxcCmuBWI7Y
